What a lift it is to paint at high altitudes! Here we are painting and partying.
I just got back from a painting frenzy in the mountains of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The venue was the Oil Painters of America National Convention, where we did plein air painting in the mountains, watched and listened to international oil painting masters, and viewed the top oil paintings of the year in the Steamboat Art Museum.
It was doubly exciting as I traveled with artist Leah Wiedemer to celebrate her work’s inclusion in the OPA National show. Her painting was hanging almost next to my good friend Natalia Andreeva’s work at the Steamboat Art Museum.

I had the pleasure to paint for several days up in the mountains alongside some of my art heroes.
We experienced magpies attacking our cheese, a hot air balloon floating by our hotel window, and a moose who I was told to not pet. Tempting.
